Delivering More Than Meals: Go Ranchero Volunteers with Meals on Wheels San Diego County
By Julie Hines
Our carts usually hit the road with vacationers, wedding guests, and production crews in tow—but this Memorial Day weekend, our Go Ranchero carts had a different mission.
Nick and I partnered with Meals on Wheels San Diego County to deliver meals—and moments of connection—to seniors across Coronado. Amie Brown, a friend from high school and now the Chief External Affairs Officer with Meals on Wheels, invited us to learn more about the organization and join her on a delivery day. Armed with good vibes and great company, we made our rounds in the sunshine, bringing nourishment and a little neighborly joy to doorsteps throughout the community.
Meals on Wheels San Diego County has been doing this work for 65 years, serving nearly 3,000 older adults each week with nutritious meals and wellness checks. For many of the folks we met, the meal was only half the story. A friendly face, a few minutes of conversation, a reason to smile—And on this day, we got to be a small part of that.
We’ve always said Go Ranchero delivers:
✔ New York Hustle
✔ New Orleans Funk
✔ Southern California Cool
This time, we added something new: Heart.
A huge thanks to Meals on Wheels San Diego County for letting us join their mission, and to the incredible volunteers and staff who make it happen 365 days a year. We were honored to ride alongside you.
Here’s to many more meaningful miles with Go Ranchero.
